Please post any issues, errors, etc... that you find on the website... thank you.

Hey Tom,

The only thing I've noticed so far is that I can't seem to find a way to navigate back to the D2S page from the forum. I currently have 2 separate windows open to view each, which is not a problem, but I wasn't sure if I was missing a link someplace to take me back to the main site.

I have not added it yet in case someone comes to the forum and then goes to the site but I will add a link right here.

Ok I'm lost, I'm at the form, but that's as far as I can get. I don't see how to get to the site like the old days. How can we listen to the music?

Sorry I missed that, but I ran into it by chance on TuneIn on my iPod which is where I listened to DeadtoSelf the most, I was surprised when it started playing again! Glad that the site is pretty much the same as before! Already enjoying the sound and the tunes!

P.S. - Not enjoying the verification code though!

Yeah, this is the updated version of the Forum. The old version we had wouldn't work on our new Domain.

Since you have been listening Cate, let me know what you think of the sound quality. I am going for quality over quantity in my music selection this time...

Tom,

I am enjoying the sound quality coming through my speakers.  I am also enjoying the selection of songs.  I am more of a prog rock and prog metal fan, so I have been enjoying hearing more singing and less cookie monster vocals, or I have missed DTS so everything sounds good (just kidding, but glad it is back and running!)

I would agree, the verification code is a pain or my eyes just aren't as acute as they used to be.

Thanks brother... OK, I will look at the verification code thingy. I do like the fact that I am no longer getting tons of spam accounts trying to join. I will see if they have something better.

I don't see the title "Everything Else", so if I want start something new or bring back "Thought of the Day" where should I start it?

Ok thanks, I thought that might be it, I'll try not to bother you any more! I'm slowly getting the hang of it and so love hearing the sound of the DEAD again!

You will notice that the links in the Artist and Album Bio/Info boxes don't work and some have weird characters. Those are issues I will fix once I get everything all up and running....

Ok tombie I'm lost again, how do we submit a song request or QP?
Title: Re: Site Issues
Post by: Tom Johns on January 31, 2022, 12:02:56 PM
OK, so go to the artist, album or song by going to Music>Music Search and then look for the artist you want to request from. It should be the same as the old site.

Hey Tom,

I'm not seeing any QP options.  They were there when I first logged in last week, but they have since disappeared.  Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks RickyZ.  You ended my frustration.  The request icons showed backup after I logged out instead of just Xing out. Now I can have some more fun.

Hey Tom, while attempting to load the G's for music, it looked like the site timed out and gave the message to notify the web developer (you). I reloaded using the link and all seems to be working normal now but I thought I'd let you know.

Ah, ok. I did reboot the server earlier so it's possible that it may have been why. Thanks brother. I hope to finish the Fs today and start on the Gs. I hope to have all the way to the Ks done this weekend.

Moving right along! Its been fun to slowly see these songs start popping up

I've noticed that adding favorites from the home screen of what's playing isn't successful much of the time. It opens the dialogue box and says "Save ... to Favorites" but it rarely gives the green verification and subsequently doesn't show up on My Plot. I either have to try multiple times or try from the album's music page. I didn't think much of it at first but it seems somewhat consistent.

Thanks guys... After I am done adding music, I hope to get the forum customized to match the site.

If I sign in at the site, it sends me to the forum and doesn't let you go back to the site, so I can't pick a song to request. I've managed to find my way back before, but can't seem to do it tonight for some reason, any thoughts?

Yeah Cate, after updating the forum it broke the rest of the site. I am gonna try and get it fixed this weekend.

Yeah, I had a database issue that I couldn't fix so had to restore an older backup... so sorry brother. I plan on doing more backups.

I am truly sorry guys. I was running a database update and it somehow corrupted the whole database. It automatically restored an older backup of the database. I lost nearly a week's worth of work as did you all. I am now backing up the database every day and had to add all of the info I had lost. I just finished this morning. Again, I am truly sorry. Hope you all can forgive me.

Ok tom today I had an interesting thing happen as I was listening, the song that was playing sounded familiar, so I always go look at the site for song title and artist. When I did it said "Afterlife" by Upon Wings, so I checked the song that had played before thinking the screen had changed to the next song, but that didn't work, so I looked up Upon Wings and found it has a female singer, but the song I heard was male and the lyrics were "give me something" which I tracked down as Uprise! Any thoughts? (Besides I'm crazy!)  ;)

Hmm, sounds like the page didn't update or... your player was behind. I have that happen occasionally when I listen using tuneIn. I think it pauses or something when you stop listening but not sure. So, no... you're not crazy, well not in this anyway LOL....

Hey Tom, not sure if you've encountered this before but I was just looking at the band lineup under an album on the music page (specifically Project Aegis in this case) and noticed that much of the links to the associated artists or other groups didn't seem to work. I hadn't tried any other artist's pages yet but noticed it here.

Yeah... that is on my to do list. I need to go through both the artist and album info and fix all of the weird character display and info... I plan on doing that after launch. Thanks brother.
