Title: Do you read the BIBLE?
Post by: Tom Johns on June 17, 2024, 08:07:32 AM
I found a Gallap poll from 2000. I cannot imagine it has improved in the last 24 years...
QuoteIn terms of frequency of readership, 16% of Americans say that they read the Bible every day, 21% say they read it weekly, 12% say they read the Bible monthly, 10% say less than monthly and 41% say that they rarely or never read the Bible.

I try to read the Bible every day. I can't say I do not miss the mark sometimes. Sometimes alot. I also look up commentaries on what I've read to better understand it. I also use Bible gateway. I also read devotionals and read the Bible to match it up. I attend several Bible studies a week. It helps that I'm on staff at my church. But if I'm being honest, I could definitely improve in how much I read the Bible. :'(

Yes I read through it once over the years, but I'm back reading through it for my second time. I'm in a group called Heart To Heart and we do studies by verious authors which have us reading different parts of the Bible. I'm also part of another group at the chapel called Ladies Bible study. I like reading on my own alot lately and try to do it at least once a day, if my busy life gives me some time!  E|  <3  <3

So important to do, but regrettably I fall within the 'weekly' category.

I could say that I simply don't have time every day to do so, but that's synonymously saying that I don't prioritize it enough as I should. I can seem to find the time to do many daily things, but telling myself that I can't spare 5 minutes to read a chapter a day is simply being untruthful.

We have multiple avenues to access the word, which may not always be available.
