Reviews For "Rise"

RISE of the SHRED!
by tombie on 1/2/2018

Rise is the forth release by axe slinger, Rob Metz. It contains twelve tracks of fret-a-licious instrumental tunage. I'm going to write on the first few tracks and a few others to get the feel across.
The first track, "Into The Aether", is less than two minutes long but has a really cool sound, sort of a Middle Eastern sound, and Rob's guitar work is smooth, precise and meaningful. It also has an atmospheric vibe to it.
The second track is called "Hands Held High". It is a medium tempo tune and Rob tells a story with the strings. I love great story telling and his guitar speaks with authority.
Next is "Dying To Live". It's a slower tune with flashes of lightning quick shredness with nice tones and precision notes sprinkled throughout.
The title track, "Rise", is the next song and features some more great guitar work with some excellent music to highlight each note.
Next is "Night Vision" which is yet, another great track. Rob's guitar work is again, amazing. This song has a live funk feel to it with horns and all... yeah!
"Good God" is a little faster track that forces my foot to tap and my head to band... Good Song!
"Straight Outta" is a really cool groovin' song. One of my favorites. I love the vibe and Rob's shredding is fantastic!
Overall, this album is excellent and demonstrates that shred is not dead! If you are into Jeff Scheetz, Rob Perez, Tony Palacios, Steve Vai, etc., then you will not be disappointed.
