I happened to be listening to FEAR NOT's "The Wounded Heart" and then their latest release "Fields of Sorrow" and became concerned about the lyrics to Carry Me and Carry Me  (Reprise).  Here is the lyric in question:

You said I'd never have more than I can bear.
Carry me now, carry me now.

I've heard people say this before about never having more than one can bear.  The scripture actually states "...but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."  1 Corinthians 10:13 KJV

My current life circumstances (recently signing legal separation papers, having to find a place to live, having to pay a ton of money to my wife, my own feelings about all of this, my kids and how they are going to handle this, etc...) certainly seems like more than I can bear, but it is forcing me to really examine my relationship with my Father in Heaven and having to rely solely on him to get me through this season of life.  As I type this, I am realizing that I should have been solely relying on him all along and will need to continue to solely rely on him.  Not to steal a line from Carrie Underwood, Jesus needs to take the wheel, because whenever I take the wheel, I crash.

Back to the original topic, when facing temptation, we always have a choice: succomb or escape.

I am not trying to be critical of Fear Not, but as Christians we need to be careful to portray accurate information from the scriptures.

Another one that Christians perpetuate is by saying "Money is the root of all evil."  It is actually "For the love of money is the root of all evil;....1 Timothy 6:10.

As I have pointed out before, I believe that we really need to slow down when we read the scriptures, and read what is actually written so that we are conforming to our Creator and not having our desires, needs and traditions create a Creator that does not exist.

Have a great evening.

So true brother... as we have discussed many times together during our chats, we both come out of beliefs that rely heavily on misquoted and misused scripture. I will be praying for you my friend.
We need to hear the Gospel every day, because we forget it every day.

I'm sorry to hear what you are going through, I believe God and Christ are there for you and will help you get through these difficult times in life!  <3

But as far as the Fear Not lyrics, to me it sounds like asking God for help to bear the weight. Just my thought!  <3

Also you might like to check out a story I wrote in the section "Random Thoughts" on page 3 near the bottom is "When I Stumble" which again is about asking Christ for help in life.
