Here is my review on the newly released Logos 10 Bible Software...
I have been a Logos user for a few years now, since Logos 8. I upgraded to Logos 9 when it came out as well. I am an avid user and have used it in all of my Bible studies and various other studies. I am slowly adding my physical books to my Logos, if they are available, and enjoy reading them anywhere without packing my collection.
I have recently upgraded to Logos 10. I have been continuously exploring it and finding it to be amazing! Don't get me wrong, both 8 and 9 were great but 10 stepped it up 10 fold! First off, as a student of the Bible and Christian/Church history, the addition of the Church History dataset is an excellent bonus! I have only began to explore them and find myself overwhelmed with excitement as I find amazing resources on people, places and events that have had an overall effect on how Christianity is practiced today.
Another great addition is the refreshed favorites tool. I love how you can save passages and other resources and filter them for easy access whenever you need them. I use this often when studying a book of the Bible to get insight on people, places and events. It's amazing what you learn by using this feature.
I also noticed that Logos 10 has improved the overall speed. I noticed it right away while doing word studies and looking up other resources during my studies.
I also really like the new look, or interface for all you techies. I have always loved the home page views and the easy access to customize what shows up on your own personal setup. I think the layout is a small but nice improvement to the program. I have even started using the suggested Workflows and even bought a few of the suggested resources as well.
One of my favorite features is the Print Library Catalog option. If you have a physical library collection, you can scan the ISBN of a book, and if the scanned book is available in the Logos library, it adds the book as a source for studying. If you do a search on something and the resource is located in one of your physical books, it will tell you what book and page to locate it. It is so cool. You do have to have Logos Gold edition or above and also have Logos installed on your mobile phone to do the scanning.
I notice that they have simplified the Search feature within Logos. They changed the search syntax to make it a little shorter and simpler, two choices I like to have when doing some tasks. As I stated earlier, I like to delve into finding out information on some of the people, places and events that are mentioned in whatever book or passage I am studying.
I also really like the improvements on the mobile app. I like the layout and the new linking capabilities. Hoping to have more features added to Android but pretty happy with it so far.
If you are a serious student of the Bible and long for deep search and study, I highly recommend Logos 10. They have several editions and features available. I started small and built my way up with book and series additions. I prefer to customize it to my interests. They continuously add new resources and features and have great sales.
Great product for anyone longing to know God and His Word on a deeper level, Logos 10 is a great place to start!
