I've been in lurking mode for quite some time.  Work has been kicking my butt.  One of my friends said that I need to go out and see a show.  He has always wanted to see Skillet and I have never seen them and my wife agreed that I should go.  We drove about 2 hours to see them in Rochester New York.  It was an interesting bill.  I was not familiar with SAINT ASONIA or THEORY OF A DEADMAN.  I was digging SAINT ASONIA until they played one song and had to curse several times.  THEORY OF A DEADMAN had a great light and smoke show but I really did not know how to take them.  Aside from their less than desireable lyrics, thir music was all over the place (pop, country, metal, 50's on steroids, etc...) Their preshow music was Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.  I realy couldn't take them seriously.  On to Skillet.  They hit the stage going 100 mph and never let up.

Here is the setlist:
Feel Invincible
Rise
Surviving the Game
Legendary
Awake and Alive
Hero
Whispers in the Dark
Not Gonna Die
Psycho in My Head
Comatose
Finish Lne
Monster
Rebirthing
The Resistance

They played all of my favorites minus Sick Of It.

They had the smoke machines and John was shooting smoke out at the crowd.  By my estimation, there were about 600 to 800 people in attendance.  It was a good time.  Getting back home at 1245 in the a.m. was not fun.

On another note, I was supposed to see RED two weeks ago at a new venue near my house, but when they arrived, they looked at where they would be playing and they backed out and left.  Apparently they did the same thing the night before.  Weird.  I would have thought that all of the details related to the size of the stage would have been worked out prior to making a commitment.

This new venue is connected to a church, so they are bringing in a variety of bands.  They have a show tonight featuring WOLVES AT THE GATE, CONVICTIONS, EARTH GROANS, CAPTORS, DISCREPANCIES, etc...  Not sure if they are all Christian bands, but I am sure that WOLVES are.  I'm not going as this is not my type of music.  It is nice having a venue nearby that brings Christian bands to town.  This is the same place where I saw Stryper.
