This is my review of the new Logos subscription based software...
first off, I have been using Logos Bible Software for many years, I think since version 6 or 7. I have upgraded every time a new version came out up to the most recent, version 10. So I am a professional IT guy, I have been working on and with computers since the 80's and have been doing it professionally since the 2008. I am also an avid Bible student. Mixing the best of both worlds has always been amazing to me and Logos is no exception! I am very careful how I spend my money so that is another reason for this review. Scriptural Authority is something I hold to very tightly and so learning scripture is one of the most important things in my life. Not just the knowledge of scripture, but the understanding, the wisdom and the applying it to my life.
I have studied it for years and back in the day, I have bought many reference and study books to help in my endeavor. Then.... I found Logos Bible Software and it changed my world. Seriously, I found that the many features to search and compare proved to be priceless!
Through the different versions, it improved more and more and many features and functions were added and or improved leading to greater and deeper study. That was why I felt that the price to upgrade was well worth it. I have added books and sets to help expand my researches and studies and they continue to add more as well.
Now comes 2024. I also have many other software apps and programs I have used for years and many have went to the subscription based format. At first, I didn't like it... I did not like the fact that instead of owning the software, I had to pay monthly or yearly. But then when I really thought about it and the advantages of not having to upgrade to every new version to get new features and functions, I warmed up to it. So, Logos is now joining the subscription based format and I couldn't be more happier. I have been using the early access version for a while now and I must say, the improvements, didn't think it was possible, are amazing. I love the search functions and the many features that have been added such as my favorite, the Church History Tools, the advanced timeline and many more. Plus, as more are added, I don't have to buy them!!!
So, to summarize this all, the subscription based version is amazing and there are several packages to meet study needs and to not put too much burden on the finances. I highly recommend this to anyone and everyone who is serious about studying the Word of GOD!
