So... I was recently introduced to the late Dr. Michael Heiser, who was a Bible Scholar and teacher. I am in no way exalting him and I honestly do not necessarily hold on to all that he teaches or brings out in his book "The Unseen Realm". But, what he does bring out clearly in scripture is eye opening and... well, shocking. In this book he writes about his experience with the Hebrew text of Psalm 82. He shows how in Scripture, this spiritual, supernatural worldview was held by the Jews and how it seems to be missing in today's Christian worldview. I got to honestly say, after reading this I can see it is throughout all of Scripture. I cannot unsee it!
I am a Bible student and I love Christian and Church history. I have learned so much just reading and studying my Bible. I no longer trust in man when it comes to the things of God. After being deceived most of my life with heretical beliefs, and then getting involved for a short time in another, I refuse to allow myself to be deceived again.
I have read the Bible many times and I study it regularly. I feel I have a good solid foundation on what I believe but I am also very open-minded. I do enjoy listening to a few teachers that have helped clarify my understanding of some things in the Bible but I am able to test their claims in light of Scripture and remain very skeptical.
Anyway, after listening to Dr. Heiser's teaching on "The Divine Council" and the spiritual worldview of the Jews, It's like my eyes are opened and so much makes more sense to me. Yes, I still will not put my faith and trust in man and I am thankful that God gives wisdom to anyone who asks and does not doubt, but I am also aware that God gives wisdom to others and that He had give gifts to the church (Evangelists, teachers, preachers) to help us reach maturity in the knowledge of Christ so that we will not be deceived. But, with so much deception in the church today, we need a good foundation so READ AND STUDY YOUR BIBLE!!!!
