Reviews For "Let The Light In"

Ashes Remain definitely remain...
by tombie on 1/25/2018

I've always liked this band so I am happy whenever they release something new. This is the band's fifth release including the Christmas and Red Devotion EPs. The album was released last October and I have had plenty of time to listen to it and I have! There are ten tracks of modern hard rock/worship tunes. Another key note, the band has retained all of their original members throughout their recording career.
Okay, so the album starts off with their first single, "Rise". This is a great song in the vein of bands like Red, Decyfer Down, Disciple, etc... The lyrics are simple and to the point. One thing I love about AR is that there are no BS lyrics. You know exactly what they are singing about.
Next song is called "On Fire". This song is kinda poppy with the keys and all. It's pretty good but not my favorite.
"All Of Me" is the next song. It has more of that modern worship feel. I am not too into that but it isn't too bad.
"Always Faithful" is the next track. This song is more of a ballad. It's not too bad, I like it.
The next song is called "Six Feet Down". It has that Ashes Remain sound that first attracted me to this band. It's a hard rocker and is one of my favorites.
"Greater Things" is another ballad. It also has more of a modern worship song feel. Great song.
The next song is "Captain". It too is somewhat of a poppy tune but has a nice hard rock edge. Great song.
"Criminal" is next and is a slow to mid-tempo tune. It also has the true AR sound that I love about these guys.
"Follow" is an acoustic worship song. Pretty simple but not bad.
The last song is "All I Need". It is another decent ballad.
Overall, not a bad album. They do seem to be swaying more to the modern worship sound which is not something I am into but it is Ashes Remain and the album is decent.
