No Compromise: Remembering The Music Of Keith Green

Petra, Steven Curtis Chapman, Russ Taff, and others cover songs by the late Keith Green, probably CCM's most influential early songwriter and performer. Most of the chosen material has worn fairly well over the years.
"I first met Keith Green about 1977 at the 'East Texas Jesus Jamboree'. At that time Keith was hardly known, but there was a great buzz about him at the festival. The buzz was not about his voice or his proficiency at the piano, it was about the way the Spirit moved at his concerts. We all learned a lot about the way the Holy Spirit moves by watching Keith's mininstry. He was outspoken and often controversial, but no one questioned the fact that the fire inside him came from his love for God and his desire to build God's kingdom.
When we were approached about doing a song for this recording, we initially declined because we had set aside that time for our families. But afterward, the song 'I Don't Want To Fall Away From You' was continually on my mind. So when Sparrow Records called back and asked us to reconsider doing that very song, I felt it must be from the Lord. The message is so much for today, and Petra is very grateful for an opportunity to pay tribute to such an influential Christian artist. May the fire that Keith possessed never be found absent in Christian music."
