This is the band's eleventh full-length studio album and features new vocalist Dave Nelson. The album is a collection of life's experiences. The Calf takes us on a journey of life and the pitfalls we encounter. Much like Saint's earlier albums the intent is to share The Gospel in an entertaining yet thought provoking way.
"New vocalist Dave Nelson was the perfect choice for this project, delivering solid crunchy and yet smooth vocals throughout the project, and is one of the nicest guys you'll meet. Returning to the team is long time Saint Guitarist Jerry Johnson who wrote the music for 'The Calf', 'Rise', and 'Fine Line'. Also the Junior Guitarist Matt Smith again blesses us the music portions of 'Hell to Pay' and 'God is God'. Jared Knowland returns not only with a Double Bass vengeance, but with his master Producer and Engineer skills that have made Saint's productions since "Hell Blade" the monster sounding albums they are. The jury's out and it looks like our Great God has blessed us again...." ~ Richard Lynch

Reviews For "The Calf"
The Calf is Golden!

I've had over a month to listen to the newest release by one of my all-time favorite bands, Saint! I have been a Saint fan since I first heard them when they released Time's End... so any time they release an album, I get a little excited. Although they have a new lead singer and I am a huge Josh Kramer fan, the excitement hasn't diminished. Still a big fan.
Now, I have listened to this quite a bit and I'm just going to say it right from the start... this album ROCKS!!!!
I think what hits me right away is it has that classic Saint sound and with the addition of Dave Nelson on vocals, he fits it perfectly. His voice is a little raspy and he has a nice tone.
The songs rock! They're well written both musically and lyrically. Production is excellent and the songs are mixed perfectly.
At this point, it's hard to say which song is my favorite. I haven't felt any inkling to skip any song as they all just rock. All rock and no fillers! Seriously, I can't find a dud in the whole album.
If you're a Saint fan... NO! If you're a killer rock/metal fan then you won't want to skip this release...
