Switching to independent label Ares Records, the band's third LP, The Heart of War, was released in July 2007.
Feeling type-casted and unable to pursue a broader audience and edgier sound, Jonah 33 joined Ares to release the highly anticipated and ambitious album, The Heart Of War. Through front man Vince Lichlyter's bouts of homelessness, depression, and drug addiction comes the real life perspective of struggle and survival as heard in the album's blistering and emotional songs.
The group has taken on the theme of WWII for this album, station that "The church has been swallowed up in the worship movement, and we need to be reminded that we are at war. This life is a spiritual war."
