Shaffer and Simmons left the band and were replaced by Bryan Gray and Matt Traxler, who recorded on The Road Less Traveled.
"Due to the inconsistency of recording and disappointment, the line up for The Road Less Traveled varied. Myk Porter covered all vocals as well as guitars on all tracks and bass on about half of the album. Tom Wohlfield played drums for the entire album. Matt Traxler filled in on second guiarts on one track, Bryan Gray played bass on half of the album. Mike Shaffer played guitars on about half of the tracks as well. Finally howver we were treated to a second dose of SFD, and this time around with more metal influence they continued to break ground for the Christian hardcore market.
R.E.X. would take a turn for the worse shortly after releasing The Road Less Traveled, and would go under completly. This left the band without label support, and frankly uncompensated for their efforts thus far.
R.E.X. decided to sell the rights to The Road Less Traveled to another smaller label called Flying Tart. Still the band was left uncompensated. Lacking any money in pocket made it extremely difficult for the guys to pull up roots and tour full strength as the label wanted. Further the album was re-released with a new cover that the band had no decision making choices in. The cover combines a live shot of the band and the moth image that they used in the original cover, only this time the wings of the moth were attached to Myk's back. If you've seen this version you know it's quite bad, and the band was very disillusioned with it."
