Released in 1997, this album features Jim Riley (from Rascal Flatts) on Drums, and Eddie Pruitt on bass. The song Lakota was the only instrumental in the top winners of the John Lennon songwriting contest. From the funk of Platform Shoes, to the all-out assault of Legend... this album is one for any fan of guitar! .
The album has been described as "Steve Vai and Satriani, mixed with a dose of Stevie Ray and funkalicious" (Ide online).
The album name "Pawn Shop" came about after Jeff released 'Disengage' by his project, "Sign Of The Times", his first with a vocalist, which he produced, played guitar on, and composed most of the songs. "I have always written lots of songs with lyrics, but it is very hard to find the right singer for the job. According to Jeff, "The singer wigged out, stole two of my guitars and sold them at a pawn shop." Pawn Shop's cover amusingly depicts Jeff standing outside a Pawn Shop with a guitar displayed in its window.
