Mirror of Souls is the second album by Christian progressive/power metal band Theocracy. It was released by Ulterium Records on November 21, 2008 in Europe, November 26 in Japan, and December 9 in North America. It is Theocracy's first album as a full band, as their self-titled debut album was a one-man project by current lead vocalist Matt Smith. In Finland it was album of the week at Imperiumi.net website which called the album "clearly one of the best melodic power metal albums of the year". In 2010, HM Magazine ranked it #16 on the Top 100 Christian metal albums of all time list.

I just want to start off this review by saying ''Wow''! Ok now that I have that out of the way, the album starts off with the song ''Tower of ashes''. The song starts out with ''Epic" keyboards and a nice mix of acoustic guitar, very nice, then without warning it explodes with great speed and power; and then it breaks down nicely and continues to have a lot of nice tempo changes. Then comes ''On wings of eagles'', this is probably the most radio friendly song on the album I will say, ''it is a hit''. This song has a great chorus and it is uplifting, inspiring, powerful and majestic! Ok now I am about to really be blown out with ''Laying the Demons to rest'', this is true spiritual warfare at it's finest. There is something very sinister about the atmosphere created in this song; very gut wrenching guitar tone and riffs in this song, off the chain! Ok I could go into detail about every song on this album but this review would turn into a novel. So let me say this, "Mirror of Souls" is one of the most diverse metal albums I have ever heard in the ''Metal genre''; it has speed, precision, POWER, it is EPIC, melodic and even has hints of thrash and death! Lets talk about the vocals a bit, the singer Matt Smith has a very common sounding name but there is nothing common about this guy. He can just flat out sing his face off!! There are beautiful harmonizing vocals all throughout this album. Matt Smith is a CREATIVE GENIUS. All the musicians in this band are on another level! This cd is INSPIRING, UPLIFTING, ANOINTED, BEAUTIFUL, BRUTAL, MELODIC, EPIC. It is just a brilliant masterpiece that is destined for GREATNESS. It is like watching an epic action adventure movie that keeps you on the edge of your seat the whole time. This is the best American metal band to come out of the good ole U.S.A since dare I say Stryper? Anyway, Athens Georgia will be proud, and so will Bach, Beethoven, Eddie VanHalen, Oz Fox, Impelliterri, Malmsteen and Stephen Spielberg! Mirror of souls is already a timeless classic; this cd will be a good listen 20 years from now.
