Destra

Country: Brazil
Genre: Progressive Metal

The band Destra had its start in 1997 under the moniker "Aquila", since Ricardo Parronchi was bass player of a band of hard rock with the same name still formed by Túlio Regis, ex-workshop G3 (vocal), Dico, ex-Katsbarnea (guitar ), playing with Catalau (former coup d'etat) and Victor Alexandre, (drums). With the end of the band, Ricardo Parronchi decided to mount a band of progressive rock, still using the name Aquila, since the idea of the name had been his. The proposal was to make a heavy sound but with enough melody, mixing metal and progressive rock among other styles like jazz and blues. So at the end of 1999, with guitarist Heros Trench, (Korzus) as co-producer and Marcos Ian as guest on keyboards. They changed their name to Destra, and in January 2000 the band released its first CD Sea of Doubt, containing 10 songs, the work got a great repercussion from the public and from critics, being highly praised by all magazines and specialized websites, including abroad. It is worth remembering that the Destra was highly praised by André Matos himself (former Angra vocalist and currently in the Shaman), being even mentioned in his official website. Then the vocalist Rodrigo Grecco was invited to the vocals and they released the second album of the band "Joe's Rhapsody" in 2004. The Destra is one of those bands that tries to make a Progressive Metal clear, polished, in the line of what fans of icons like Evergrey, Fates Warning and the like.
