Fasedown

Fasedown formed back in 1998 when drummer Jim Chaffin (The Crucified, The Blamed, Once Dead) and lead guitarist Mike Phillips (Deliverance, prior endorsements with Jackson guitars) got together with some ideas to bring a heavy style of music to the scene with a Christ-centered message. In 1999 front man Devin Shaeffer (Once Dead) was asked to join in order to bring that vision full circle. Things began to move along quickly for the band as they completed enough songs for a feature length album in that year, and garnered interest from a number of people in the industry. Fasedown ultimately decided to work with Rescue Records (P.O.D.'s label prior to going main-stream) and released their self titled album in 2000. Sales went well as the first pressing sold out and demand for the band to play various fests and shows grew. That first year brought shows in front of 800 to 10,000 in Las Vegas, Phoenix, Santa Cruz, and Cornerstone. Additionally, Fasedown shared the stage with secular giants Machine Head, and Fearfactory for a segment of the Road Rage tour. Unfortunately for the band, Rescue Records pressed a massive re-release of P.O.D.'s first few albums and was never paid by the secular distributor who filed bankruptcy, with Rescue themselves ultimately following suit, so a second pressing of Fasedown's debut album was never made.
Fast forward to 2005, after a short break, the band self-released their second album "Blitz of Anguish". Fans were delighted with the expansion upon the earlier ideas of the band and many more shows were played.
In 2007, the band decided to call it a day, with Jim and Devin going to Once Dead, writing the album "Visions of Hell" and playing some festivals in the U.S. and Europe. Meanwhile, Mike re-joined Deliverance to record another album and play shows in both the U.S. and overseas, and later recording a solo album called Michael Phillips "Mirrors within Mirrors".
