Krig
Country: Brazil
Genre: Death Metal
KRIG started at the beginning of 2007, in the city of Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais. Addressing in our lyrical themes, social, political, philosophical and Christian themes. At first the band had only the vocalist Daniel and guitarist / bassist Isaque Soares. The guitarist already had the instrumental parts of a song, which he showed to Daniel, that instrumental song became our 1st hit Bastard Boss, that was in January of that year. Back then in March the band already had a total of 8 songs and the band entered the studio that same month to record a cd entitled "Feed me" which was released in June of that year. Although Isaque and Daniel recorded the CD by themselves, they had two more members at the time, guitarist Phillippe Levidad, who had already worked with them on other projects, such as Sabbatariam, Mercy and Unnamed. At the time they lived in Ouro Branco / MG and drummer Júnior Oliveira from Belo Horizonte / MG who was the drummer for the band Feel Burning Inside de Metal Core of BH. The two appear in the line-up of our first album Feed me of 2007. This line-up did not last much than rehearsals and did not perform any show.
Still in 2007, guitarist Phillippe left the band, Isaque Soares took over the guitar and his wife Júlia took over the bass, so our debut show was scheduled in the city of Santa Cruz de La Sierra in Bolivia, however the promoters canceled the convert at the very last hour. So Krig's debut on stage was only in early 2008 in Juiz de Fora / MG. After some shows going through some Brazilian southeastern states and with that the band released the EP "Stop the Manipulation", which has 4 new songs and a cover of the American Thrash Metal band Deliverance and a special version was released through the Mexican label "Alcançe Subterraneo" with 03 tracks recorded live in the studio, from the songs "Bastard Boss", "Rotten MTV" and "Global Warming". After the release of this album, the band's schedule was so intense, they held more shows with this formation until the drummer Júnior, due to incompatibility with the band's schedule, left KRIG and Vinícius Soares, who played in local bands like NORC, Harpazo and Marturion from Belo Horizonte, took over the drumsticks. With Vinícius in our line-up, the band started to have an even more brutal sound, making songs faster, with faster blast beats. The band performed many concerts with the new drummer during 2008.
In 2009 KRIG wrote about nine songs and they were ready and the band started recording what would be our heaviest album and considered by many to be the best of the band, "Target: Human . Mission: Destroy", like our first CD, was released independently and took the band's name to a more international level, the album was well distributed outside Brazil. They continued to do more shows and in the middle of the year 2009 after some disagreement between Daniel and Isaque, the band decided to broke up, Daniel left the band and joined another band called Smash the System and the KRIG members continued together, but with another name and called two more members. From July to December 2009 the band status was on hold until Isaque Soares and Daniel get together again and KRIG returned to active.
In 2010, with some ideas in mind for new songs, they started to compose to record the third full album entitled "Narcissistic Mechanism", which was also very well received by fans and specialized media. From this album, KRIG conquered new grounds in terms of concerts, leaving the Brazilian southeast and performing concerts in almost all regions of Brazil, that tour led to the name "Narcissistic Brazilian Tour".
In 2011, right at the beginning the band started their biggest tour ever performed, it would be their first South American tour, going through the Midwest, South and Southeast regions of Brazil and countries like Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina. The tour was named "Narcissistic South American tour" which led to the release of the first DVD "Back to Square One".
In 2012 the band performed some shows, the most prominent was opening the show of the Norwegian Black Metal band Antestor in Belo Horizonte, which at the time was conducting a great tour through Brazil.
In 2013 the band released their fourth full album " Decay’s Beholder " through the Canadian label " HammerDown Records" and toured Brazil, passing through the southeast, midwest and northeast regions. That same year, our drummer Vinícius Soares, being tired of the band's busy schedule and taking the road, decides to leave KRIG.
In 2014, without a drummer and without performing shows, the band released the compilation "7 Years of Brutality" where they made remastered and re-recorded versions of some of our old songs, a new song called "Satan" as a bonus track. This compilation was released by the American label "Shigionoth Records". That same year the band decided to take another break from the band. By the year 2015, the band was already in hiatus, Isaque Soares and Daniel Corpse had some big moves in their lives. At that time Isaque Soares and his wife Julia Soares moved to Canada where they live to the present day, and Daniel moved to Ireland to spend a couple of years there for some personal live project.
After 4 years of hiatus, in the year 2018 KRIG recorded a CD of covers named Tribute, with songs of such bands as Stryper, Bride, Believer, Mortification, etc ... and a couple of instrumental songs.
In 2019 the band states a return to activities, announcing that the band was in the studio recording 5 songs that will be part of an EP, for this they invited the Polish drummer Krzysztof Klingbein who was in charge of recording the drums. The EP is still in the process of being recorded and is scheduled to be released in 2021.
In 2020 KRIG released its first live album, it is a concert recorded in 2010 in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Also, in 2020 KRIG released Tribute II, another collection of covers, with songs of such bands as Trouble, Tourniquet, Messiah Prophet, Megadeth and Bloodgood. The band has worked with other reissues of old records, released by the label Good Fight Records. By the same year the band has some lineup changes, Matheus Morais joined the band for a couple of months, but both agreed to split with him. That being said the band decided to keep on without a fixed drummer.
In 2021, the band signed a contract with the label Rottweiler Records for the release Anthropos, a new full-length with session drummer Krzysztof Klingbein.
