Lament is a Christian heavy metal band from Mexico City. The group began its career in 1993 as Beheaded and performed under the name for many years, but then changed it to Lament in 1996 because there already was a band called "Beheaded". This Mexican band found their niche playing death metal mixed with power metal. But the main reason for creating this band was to bring the Word of God to the Mexican metalheads. Lament was the first Christian extreme metal band in Mexico, and they have continued to spread the word to the unsaved ever since. Drummer Abel Gomez serves as the band's spokesperson and chief composer, and he took over as lead singer after Marco Perez left the group in 2001.
