Liptocoal

The hard rock band Liptocoal formed in the spring of 2003 in Indianapolis from the makings of previous bands as four guys found each other in the same place at the same time. To fulfill a few dates from a recently defunct regional act these guys assembled by necessity and rehearsed. The band discovered their name over a warm latte at Starbucks just before their first show. Something seemed to click and before they could hit the studio almost every weekend was booked that year.
Liptocoal found themselves playing anywhere from Bars to Churches to Youth centers with only burned copies of a three song EP which they could not keep in stock. By May of '04 they independently released their full length CD "Fly", engineered and also produced by Tim Bushong. Fly was released with good momentum and a record breaking packed house for Franklin, IN local club, Logos, in a southern suburb of Indianapolis. Liptocoal only grew and reached more people.
In the beginning, they kept a solid pace of 60 shows a year. With their thrilling live show, momentum increased as touring territory expanded them into new horizons. A year after the release of "Fly", Liptocoal was all the more determined as a band. In late June of '05, Liptocoal quit their easily forgotten jobs to tour full time. "Changing the world one rock show at a time" became the mission statement for Liptocoal early on. This band found themselves in front of hundreds of people with the opportunity to present hope to those who may not have known there was hope.
In August of '05 when playing for a crowded house in Des Moines, IA, the guys were approached by the owner of Resilient Sowndz, an upstart indie record label with distribution through PGE/Sony RED. He offered them a deal on the spot. Liptocoal saw his vision and along with the desirable position of operating as an independent, Liptocoal linked up for a winter 06 re-release of their first record. Fly dropped February 21, '06 for its first nationally distributed release.
