Oil
Country: United States of America
Genre: Heavy Metal
The band was formed in 1997 by Ron Rinehart, the former vocalist with Dark Angel, who converted to Christianity at a Harvest Crusade after Dark Angel's dissolution in 1992. Other members include lead guitarist Blake Nelson (formerly with Deceiver, Desire and Captain Black) and drummer Jason Vander Pal.
Oil is a L.A. based band that plays fresh, cutting edge metal. Refusing to listen to the so-called critics that say metal is dead, Oil plays from the heart. What you hear is what you get. The band will stick to its guns and continue to play metal and hopes to be on top of the scene when heavy music regains its mass popularity.
Oil has a thick sound, and songs range from fast chops, to slow heavy grooves, to slow tasty picking, and just about everything in between.
The band isn't interested in jumping on bandwagons. Oil's format is simply this: we take what is in our heart and translate it to music. And in case you are wondering about the heart of Oil, we must profess that Jesus Christ is our Lord.
Yeah, that's right, Oil is a Spirit-filled metal band in whom the Lord Jesus Christ has called to preach the Gospel to many who would not normally come to church. The overall consensus of the people is that Oil is heavily anointed by God to share the goodness, grace and mercy of Almighty God.
