Bottle Rocket is one of the albums from Christian rock band Guardian. The album was released on August 5, 1997 and was produced by Steve Taylor.
This album delved deeper into the alternative and grunge genre the band explored in their previous album. As of 2006, this is the last studio album to feature bassist David Bach.
Bottle Rocket was Guardian's sixth major label release and the second to be produced by Steve Taylor. Though a natural evolution from Buzz, the sound carried a pronounced alternative bent as Taylor's songwriting partnership with the band grew deeper. There was also external pressure on the band as their record label felt the band needed to modernize their sound and creative disagreements with their label ensued. The resultant friction ultimately led to Guardian's departure from the label and subsequent legal action that was ultimately settled in the band's favor. Transitions continued as founding member, David Bach chose to temporarily step down from the group prior to the start of the Bottle Rocket Tour and was initially replaced by Tracey Ferrie and then by Brent Denny who would continue to tour with the band for the next two years.
