After releasing the convincingly nu-metal album "Chimera" in 2009, the emphasis of Stria shifted greatly. Acquiring Douglas Apolinario on drums and Dan Sneigoski on guitar, the four piece band began to explore new musical techniques. They evolved their sound, mixing electronic, techno and club elements with hard rock riffs and vocals. The integration of technology with their brand of aggressive rock became the face of a new Stria, departing from the nu-metal, rap-core sounds of Chimera and pursuing mainstream and radio appeal.
In 2010, Stria was contacted by award-winning Skillet guitarist and producer Ben Kasica of Skies Fall Media. Stria signed a production deal with Kasica and Skies Fall Media in January 2011 and the pair began writing a five-track industry EP for major label consideration. After months of writing, the album was tracked, mixed and mastered over the course of 2012, and excitedly released in November of that year. Featuring co-writing from songwriters with Atlantic Records, Warner Bros. Records and Tooth & Nail Records, the self-titled EP flashes a peek at what is to come from Stria in the future.
