Idle Cure

Country: United States of America
Genre: Hard Rock

Idle Cure was an arena rock band from Long Beach, California, best known for aggressive vocals, hard hitting guitars, layered keyboards, and hooky choruses. Idle Cure rose from the ranks of previous secular bands and upon becoming saved devoted their collective musical talents to the service and salvation of others. Mark Ambrose, and Steve Shannon played together for several years in the Christian band "Sojourn", and it was herein the seeds were planted for Idle Cure. In 1986, Idle Cure launched their initial self titled album on the then newly formed Frontline Records. The response was both remarkable, and immediate. "Breakaway" was a runaway hit on major Christian Rock radio stations, and "Take It" was a number 1 ballad almost nationwide. By 1990 Idle Cure was dominating rock radio and "Pray" was the #1 song for the entire year. In spite of the fact that the band never did any major tours, the radio success on several fronts created a steady sub-culture of fans in the industry. Idle Cure went on to produce five studio projects, and a compilation disc. Idle Cure now enjoys the status of being perhaps one of the finest bands in this musical genre.
The band's debut, self-titled album also sees guitar contributions from Chuck King (Shout) Terrence Elliot, Tim Browne, Bob Somma and Mike Hamilton. Drums were supplied by Dave Spurr. On further releases drums were handled by Pete Pfeifer for 1989's 'Tough Love' and Stevie Distanislao for follow up '2nd Avenue'. Additional guitars for Idle Cure's 1990 album come courtesy of Tom and Doug Pierce. Giant guitarist Dan Huff adds session guitar for 1994's 'Eclipse'.
Members: Steve Shannon - vocals, Pete Lomakin - keys, Mark Ambrose - guitars, and Glenn Pearce - guitars.
